Inter v AC Milan

It the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday, May 6. Festivities at the San Siro erupt at 19:45 GMT.
Teams News
Inter
Inter’s late push for a Champions League berth could be heading for the gutter now after bowing down to Parma in the midweek. Now with three points separating them from third and fourth spot teams Napoli and Udinese, Inter can only hope for some sort of conspiracy and hand them their continental bid. Sixth place Lazio – a team Inter is trailing by a solitary point – could be the only hindrance to European football. Inter visit Lazio on the final game of the season in what could potentially be a head-to-head battle for a Europa league spot next season.
Before traveling to Lazio however, Inter have to play local rivals AC Milan in another season-defining derby. AC Milan is hot on the tails of Juventus for the title, and with Inter driving for Champions League football next season – and with a draw between the two clubs never going to be enough – only one of these two ambitions may be fulfilled after the derby. One Milanese team will be going out of the San Siro with a broken heart.
AC Milan
Dropping five points in two of their last four home games will be lingering the Rossoneri going into this game. The dropped points could have brought them on top of the table, four points clear of Juventus, and perhaps needing only a point in this derby to claim their 18th Scudetto and tying Inter’s league record.
AC Milan is technically the visiting side this weekend, but they will be barging into the San Siro with better momentum on their side. Form-wise AC Milan is on the back of a three game winning streak, the best in the league at the moment alongside Parma. In their last three games Massimiliano Allegri’s troops showed deadly late-game finishing by scoring goals in the last five minutes in each of the last three games. As the season is going down the wire, it looks like this derby might not be decided until the last minute.
Inter v AC Milan Betting Preview
Fifty-fifty probabilities aren’t only for coin tosses but for the Milan derby as well. Both teams have three wins apiece in the last derby matches with the latest one going to Inter. With both teams’ ambitions at stake, form may not matter anymore and an open game may ensue. Once again this derby looks like its fifty-fifty, and no matter how painstaking it may sound, one team will wake up to a bitter reality once the final whistle blows.
Betting Tip
Verdict: AC Milan to win albeit narrowly and late, 2-1.
Tip: AC Milan may be favoured to win, but remember, this is the Milan derby and anything is possible. AC Milan to win at 2-1 is rewarding enough at 15/2, but if you fancy Inter to tie at 2-2, it’s much better at 14/1. An Inter win may seem just as likely, and everything pointing to that will definitely reap rewards. An Inter win at 1-0 is at 11/1, perhaps the most realistic punt for the upset-loving fan.
